Each one of them has been assigned a gemstone.<\/p>\n<p>The leader is Kanazawa Yuki.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>GEM is a sister group of <a title=\"Super Girls\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpop-idols.com\/en\/super-girls\/\">Super\u2606Girls<\/a> and <a title=\"Cheeky Parade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpop-idols.com\/en\/cheeky-parade\/\">Cheeky Parade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The meaning of the unit&#8217;s name is that these girls &#8220;are going to become like precious stones one they will be polished&#8221;. It is also an abbreviation for &#8220;Girls Entertainment Mixture&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Ito Chisami is the elder sister of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpop-idols.com\/en\/team-syachihoko\/\">Team Syachihoko<\/a>&#8216;s Ito Chiyuri.<\/p>\n<h2>Biography \/ History<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13300\" src=\"http:\/\/static.jpop-idols.com\/uploads\/2013\/06\/gem.jpg\" alt=\"GEM (Girls Entertainment Mixture)\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>On June 12, 2013, the 10 official members have been announced during a concert held at Nippon Budokan to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Super\u2606Girls. They were part of iDOL Street Street-sei (\u30b9\u30c8\u30ea\u30fc\u30c8\u751f)<\/p>\n<p>GEM released their major debut single <span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><a title=\"GEM \u2013 We\u2019re GEM\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpop-idols.com\/en\/gem-we-re-gem\/\">We&#8217;re GEM<\/a><\/span> on January 1, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the idol unit was chosen as supporters of Shizuoka Marathon 2014 (\u9759\u5ca1\u30de\u30e9\u30bd\u30f32014).<\/p>\n<p>Their 1st nationwide concert tour <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">GEM Live Mixture 2014 ~Black or White~<\/span> took place between March and May in Nagoya, Tokyo, Fukuoka and Shizuoka.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-21587\" src=\"http:\/\/static.jpop-idols.com\/uploads\/2014\/04\/gem.jpg\" alt=\"GEM (Girls Entertainment Mixture)\" width=\"150\" height=\"123\" \/>In April 2014, the members were appointed as image characters for Revive Moist shampoo. They appeared in commercials.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2014, Takeda Maya became a police officer for one day in Fukui Prefecture. She participated in a transportation safety campaign and in crime-prevention programs.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2014, Kanazawa Yuki was starring in the stage play <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Debug Treasure (\u30c7\u30d0\u30c3\u30b0\u30c8\u30ec\u30b8\u30e3\u30fc)<\/span> along with Miyazaki Rina (Super\u2606Girls).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-26624\" src=\"http:\/\/static.jpop-idols.com\/uploads\/2014\/12\/gem-idol.jpg\" alt=\"GEM (Girls Entertainment Mixture)\" width=\"150\" height=\"123\" \/>The <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">4th iDOL Street Sports Festival (\u7b2c4\u56de \u79cb\u306e\u5927\u904b\u52d5\u4f1a2014 \uff5e\u30a2\u30a4\u30c9\u30eb\u306e\u6c57\u304c\u7729\u3057\u3059\u304e\u30f3\u3060\u3088\u3049!!\uff5e)<\/span> was held in November 2014. GEM, Super\u2606Girls and Cheeky Parade took part in various sports challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Kanazawa Yuki, Shimura Rika (Super\u2606Girls) and\u00a0Sekine Yuna (Cheeky Parade) make regular appearances on the show <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Harajuku Base (\u539f\u5bbf\u30d9\u30fc\u30b9)<\/span> on Chiba TV since January 2015. They talk about Harajuku fashion.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-30632\" src=\"http:\/\/static.jpop-idols.com\/uploads\/2015\/06\/super-world-returns.jpg\" alt=\"Chouzetsu\u2606Utagekidan 2015 ~Super World\u2606Returns~\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" \/>21 members from GEM, Super\u2606Girls and Cheeky Parade performed in the theater show <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Chouzetsu\u2606Utagekidan 2015 ~Super World\u2606Returns~ (\u8d85\u7d76\u2606\u6b4c\u5287\u56e3 2015 \uff5eSuper World\u2606Returns\uff5e)<\/span> at Tokyo DDD Aoyama Cross Theater in February 2015. Teams were led by Murakami Rana, Watanabe Koume and Mizorogi Seran.<\/p>\n<p>Some girls took a special\u00a0certification exam organized by iDOL Street in March 2015. Murakami Rana, Morioka Yu and Iyama Maho passed the test with 90, 80 and 90 points. At the same time, Oguri Kako also became a special model for gonoturn.<\/p>\n<p>In late March 2016, Iyama Maho went on hiatus to undergo medical treatment. She resumed activities in April 2016.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpop-idols.com\/en\/super-girls-gem-new-members\/\">Noguchi Monami and Nishida Hirari<\/a> joined GEM as new members after the departure of Takeda Maaya to Los Angeles in June 2016.
