On January 1st, PASSPO\u2606 celebrated the apex of their six-month \u201cPASSPO\u2606 5th Anniversary Count-UP Tour\u201d with their grand finale concert \u201cIt\u2019s a New Year! Five years and a bit ~ Can we remember the moves for all of our songs?\u201d at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL. Makoto Okunaka<\/a>, who announced her graduation last year, went on her “last flight” in front of a captive New Years crowd of roughly 3,500, all eager to experience PASSPO\u2606\u2019s last 9-member performance.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Hatchake Team – consisting of members Shiori Mori, Yukimi Fujimoto, Natsumi Iwamura, and Naomi Anzai – opened for the main event. The concert kicked off with PASSPO\u2606\u2019s major debut hits lineup: \u201cShoujo Hikou\u201d, followed by \u201cVivi Natsu\u201d, and \u201cKimi wa Boku wo Suki ni naru\u201d. Staying true to the show title\u2019s promise, PASSPO\u2606 performed \u201call of [their] songs\u201d, from their indie era to the their latest album TRACKS<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t want to waste even a second of it! I want to share the fun,\u201d said Okunaka about the idol group\u2019s longest show to date. Okunaka Makoto’s comedy-driven graduation ceremony took place during the seventh and eight pieces, \u201cShang Shang Chandelier\u201d and \u201cKibun Wa Saikou! Saikou! Saikou!\u201d, wiping out any traces of solemnity. Riding the same wave of energy, PASSPO\u2606 performed a medley of 21 songs from \u201cMuteki GIRL\u201d to \u201cPink Parachute\u201d. Starting with their 35th song, \u201cPerfect Sky\u201d, the girls each grabbed an instrument, setting the stage for Band\u2606PASSPO. Among the set list were band-debut songs such as “BREAK OUT!!\u201d and \u201c2DAYS\u201d, letting the the audience in on the members\u2019 efforts and drive in performing as a band – one of their goals.<\/p>\n

Following song 41, \u201cBABY JUMP ~ Tengoku He No Toujoubin ~\u201d, a live performance by PASSPO\u2606 producers, Penne and Arrabiata led by The Ground Crew, kicked off the second half of the show. They wowed the audience by nailing \u201cUHAE!\u201d, \u201cWANTED\u201d, and other challenging PASSPO\u2606 numbers. Songwriter HAWAIIAN6\u2019s Yuta Yasuno came onstage for song 47, \u201cMousou No Hawaii\u201d; then Strings Airport Quartet colored the stage with \u201cBEAST IN YOU\u201d and \u201cWish on a star\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to turn all of the feelings that can\u2019t be conveyed into song. As long as I have a voice, I want to keep singing,\u201d said Mio Masui passionately before launching into song 56, \u201cOnegai.\u201d The illustrations and lyrics streaming across the screen behind the members during \u201cOnegai\u201d were Masui\u2019s own work. The nine PASSPO\u2606 members sang their hearts out for \u201c Himawari\u201d, with Masui on a bass inherited from the late Akihiro Yokoyama of The Ground Crew, who passed away suddenly last year. Their love for music and passionate vocals surely carried far away. Their love for music and passionate vocals will surely resonate.<\/p>\n

Okunaka Makoto gave graduation messages to each of her group members before the last song of the concert, \u201cTRACKS\u201d. \u201cAi-chan (Ai Negishi), thank you for being my Captain.\u201d \u201cYukki (Yukimi Fujimoto), I\u2019ve never met anyone as nice as you.\u201d \u201cMorishi (Shiori Mori), thank you for teaching me to dance.\u201d \u201cSako-chan (Sako Makita), I think you\u2019re a very strong person.\u201d \u201cNachu (Iwamura)\u2019s kindness has helped me many times.\u201d \u201cAn-chan (Anna Tamai), you\u2019re always looking out for each of us.\u201d \u201cMio-chan (Mio Masui), we did a lot of M&M\u2019s. I think you\u2019re the most perceptive person out of all of us.\u201d Finally, she had a message for the audience: \u201cThe reason I\u2019ve stayed smiling is because of my Passengers. Thank you!\u201d The stage was bathed in pink (Okunaka\u2019s colour) for \u201cTRACKS\u201d, after which Okunaka left the stage with a smile.<\/p>\n

The main performance ended at 8:30 pm. Though five and a half hours had elapsed, the fans enthusiastically called, \u201cMakoto!\u201d, not fatigued in the least. PASSPO\u2606 returned to the stage in response to their fans, performing four more songs from \u201cLA LA LOVE TRAIN ~ Koi No Katamichi Kippu\u201d to their original \u201cLet It Go!!\u201d. The girls came back onstage again for their second encore in \u201cShoujo Hikou\u201d costumes, Okunaka\u2019s favourite. Despite the challenges and rough patches of the past five year, Captain Ai Negishi said in closing, \u201cI can say with confidence that I am so grateful that PASSPO\u2606 has been the nine of us.\u201d They performed \u201cShoujo Hikou\u201d one more time to the audience\u2019s delight. After more than six hours, the curtains finally closed as the crowd went wild.<\/p>\n

As they begin a new year, PASSPO\u2606 and Makoto Okunaka are setting off on new starts. The concert footage DVD will be released on March 25th. The new eight-member generation of PASSPO\u2606 will kick off their seven-show One Man Flight Tour \u201c~More Attention\u201d with a concert at Chiba Kashiwa PALOOZA on March 7th. Okunaka will star in “Shinrei Shashinbu\u201d.<\/p>\n
