Interview : i☆Ris

i☆Ris is an idol group growing in popularity in Japan. They had a lot of activities over the last months with, among others, the release of their latest single §Rainbow, a series of live performances at Akihabara TwinBox, and the participation in big events such as Idol Nation.

We had the opportunity to meet them and to talk about their various activities.

Could you introduce yourselves ?

Yamaki Saki (Y.S.) : I’m Saki-sama, the leader of i☆Ris. My image color is green.

Serizawa Yu (S.Y.) : My name is Yu. My color is blue.

Akaneya Himika (A.H.) : I’m Himi. My image color is purple.

Wakai Yuki (W.Y.) : My name is Yuki and my image color is red.

Kubota Miyu (K.M.) : I’m Miyutan. My image color is orange

Shibuya Azuki (S.A.) : I’m Zuchan and my image color is yellow.

Your latest single §Rainbow was released on August 21. Could you say a few words about it ?

S.Y. : §Rainbow is the ending theme song for the anime series Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live (プリティーリズム・レインボーライブ). I am playing a leading role, Ann Fukuhara (福原あん).

It is a very cheering song about a girl, whom entered into her longing world with confusion and distress.

i☆Ris is going to celebrate its 1st anniversary in November. What do you think about this first year of activity ?

Y.S. : We have been invited to Idol Nation and to other major events this year. We hope to have other big opportunities to make our names more famous in the future.

i☆Ris 1st Anniversary Live is coming on November 9 at Harajuku Astro Hall. We are sure to make this event very succesful.

As members of i☆Ris, you performed the theme songs for various anime series. What are your favorite anime ?

Y.S. : Pokemon (ポケモン), also known as Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター) in Japan.

S.Y. : Full Moon wo Sagashite (満月をさがして).

A.H. : Cardcaptor Sakura (カードキャプター).

W.Y. : One Piece (ワンピース).

K.M. : The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱).

S.A. : The Prince of Tennis (テニスの王子様).

You are also voice actresses (seiyuu (声優) in Japanese). What kind of characters would you like to play ?

Y.S. : I would like to play a funny character.

S.Y. : I want to play an evil character in order to do something bad. (Ed. note : She says that by impersonating a demon).

A.H. : I would like to perform the main role in an animation movie for kids.

W.Y. : I would like to play a character who can change in something else like Sailor Moon (セーラームーン).

K.M. : I want to act for both a boy and a girl.

S.A. : I would like to play something that usually doesn’t speak in the real life, like an animal or a flower for example.

What are your goals for the future ?

Y.S. : We would like to become a group who will be loved by all : anime fans, voice actress fans, and idol fans. There is not such a group in Japan.

Do you have a message for your fans ?

Y.S. : We highly wish to perform a live concert abroad. Especially in France!

We hope that i☆Ris and the anime series in which we play some roles will be seen abroad and be loved.
